The 40th BRIT Awards show featured Hans Zimmer, Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi, among other stars who performed on the night.
2020 sees the 40th instalment of the BRIT Awards – and this year’s glittering show boasted a big night of performances.
Legendary composer Hans Zimmer took to the stage with Billie Eilish for a sleek performance of the newly-released ‘No Time To Die’ Bond theme, which has already had north of 27 million views on YouTube.
They were joined by guitarist Johnny Marr and Eilish’s brother, songwriter and pianist Finneas O’Connell, to perform the haunting ballad.
Three-time Grammy Award winner and hip-hop sensation Lizzo also made an appearance on the night – humouring host Jack Whitehall and Harry Styles with a quick musical flourish on the flute, as well as rapper Dave, whose debut album Psychodrama went straight to number one in the UK Album Chart and became the most-streamed first-week album in the UK.

Sir Rod Stewart closed the show – and invited special guests Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones to be part of his performance, complete with giant chandeliers and the glorious sounds of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Before the show, the rock legend said: “Happy to be asked to close out The BRITs on their 40th show celebrations!”
Scottish singer-songwriter, Lewis Capaldi, joined them – and after a hugely successful 2019 with six weeks at No. 1 on the UK Album Chart for his debut record (now certified Double Platinum), his spot on the line-up (and two awards) were well deserved.
Singer-songwriter Mabel was also on the bill, and won the award for British Female Solo Artist. Just like Capaldi, Mabel cemented her status as one of the UK’s biggest pop stars last year – with three weeks in the UK top three for ‘Don’t Call Me Up’.
Stormzy, who impressed audiences at the 2018 BRITs and is best-known for his critically acclaimed No. 1 studio album ‘Heavy is the Head’, also gave an energetic performance last night with a gospel choir and later won British Male Solo Artist.
Solo artists Harry Styles and Celeste – who took home this year’s Rising Stars award – joined Stormzy on the line-up. Styles – who was shortlisted for two awards, after releasing his second album ‘Fine Line’ to critical acclaim – moved audiences with a heartbreaking rendition of ‘Falling’.
The BRIT Awards 2020 took place at London’s O2 Arena and stars were presented with awards based on votes cast by 1,500 people from across the music industry.
