Mozart - Piano Concertos etc, Vol. 5 – Jean-Efflam Bavouzet

Pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s successful collection of Mozart piano concertos adds a fifth instalment to the series.

This latest release includes performances of the great composer’s fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth piano concertos, along with the overtures to Il sogno di Scipione, La finta giardiniera, Il re pastore, Zaide and Lucio Silla.

Mozart’s Fifth Piano Concerto was actually his first, as concertos No.1 - 4 were works arranged by other composers.

Bavouzet is joined by the Manchester Camerata under the baton of Hungarian conductor Gabor Takacs-Nagy on the album.

Jean-Efflam is a multi award-winning French classical pianist who has performed alongside internationally renowned orchestras, and is currently the International Chair in Piano at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Louise Farrenc: Symphony No. 1 – Solistes Européens Luxembourg, Christoph König

In 2018, the Solistes Européens and conductor Christoph König came together to produce Farrenc: Symphonies Nos. 2 & 3, a release comprised of French composer Louise Farrenc’s later symphonies.

Now they reunite for another album, this time taking on Farrenc’s first symphony alongside Luxembourg-born pianist Jean Muller.

Overture No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 23

The Solistes Européens are an orchestra made up of European musicians who regularly meet to play concerts and record music.

Since 2009, they have performed under the baton of German composer Christoph König who has also guest-conducted a variety of international orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, Danish National Symphony, Netherlands Philharmonic and others.
