Decca launches hunt for new Welsh star
The record company that launched Bryn Terfel, Aled Jones, Katherine Jenkins and Classical Brit Award winners Only Men Aloud has started a hunt for Wales' next big thing.
Decca, part of the music giant Universal, is launching a search for a new recording star. Regardless of age or experience, anyone from Wales with a good classical singing voice can audition for the position.
Mark Wilkinson, Director of Marketing for Decca, has worked with many of the artists and groups which have recorded under the Universal umbrella over the past 10 years, including Terfel, Jones and Jenkins.
"We’re always listening out for great voices. My experience is that we often find these in Wales, so we’ve decided to undertake a very public search this time to give as many talented singers as possible the chance to be heard. We’re looking for a special voice and talent that we can nurture and place on a world stage. An international career is about more than just vocal ability."
