A spontaneous balcony duet from two self-isolating musicians, against the backdrop of Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia…

When a quarantined Spanish pianist decided to treat his neighbours to ‘My Heart Will Go On’, little did he know that it would quickly become a duet.

Positioned from his balcony several storeys high, we see pianist Alberto Gestoso perform James Horner’s famous Titanic theme (watch video below) on his keyboard to the surrounding apartments.

With a beautiful backdrop of blue skies and Barcelona’s iconic Sagrada Familia, we’re offered a moment of blissful escapism.

But then, Gestoso’s partner, Roman Santana – who filmed the heart-warming clip, suddenly turns his camera as the sound of a saxophonist begins to ring out from another balcony close by.

Joining in with his neighbour in a frankly heart-rending show of solidarity, the saxophonist adds a smooth main melody to the piano arrangement of the song.

The impromptu duet clearly goes down well with their audience, who raise their hands over the rooftops to give them an almighty round of applause.

We may be living in uncertain times, but these spontaneous performances are demonstrating incredibly the power of music to keep us all connected. Bravo indeed!
