Alison Balsom returns with new album 'Seraph'

The trumpeter Alison Balsom is due to release her new album 'Seraph' in the new year. Classic FM's Lucy Coward has been speaking to Alison all about it.

The album, which having been a year in the making has become a real labour of love for Balsom, features a host of modern and contemporary repertoire including works by Takemitsu and Zimmermann and the ever popular Arutunian Trumpet Concerto.

The disc also includes new arrangements of spirituals and the world premiere recording of the title track ‘Seraph’, written especially for Alison by James MacMillan.

Classic FM’s Lucy Coward spoke to Alison all about the new album, the importance of embracing a modern repertoire and her new role as a teacher.
