Turns out, eating incredibly hot chili peppers definitely does not lubricate your larynx.
Chili Klaus is a comedian, musician and chili-enthusiast. He particularly likes to test musicians by feeding them ghost peppers before they play or sing.
This time, he tried it with his old boys’ choir at Christmas, in a rehearsal for ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’.
After reaching the end of the first verse, the choirboys reach inside their pockets and grab the peppers. They pop them in, and the grimacing begins:

The high notes come in, and it all goes pear-shaped. Everyone’s hot and sweaty, and some of the boys start properly crying:
You won’t catch us going to choir practice when Chili Klaus is on the podium…
