Tasmin Little and Harry Christophers included in the Queen's Birthday Honours List
The Queen's Birthday Honours List is announced this weekend, with a host of classical musicians recognised for their services to music and the arts.
Included in the list is violinist Tasmin Little, who is honoured for her services to music. She is joined by Harry Christophers, the founder and chief conductor of the 'Voices of Classic FM', The Sixteen. The choir have been going from strength to strength over the last 12 months, with their acclaimed choral pilgrimages now entering their 12th year.
Also recognised in this year's list are pianist Joanna MacGregor, Edward Gardner Music director of the English National Opera, and choirmaster Gareth Malone, who helped take the Military Wives to the top of the charts last year.
Other notable classical names include Andrew John Jowett, Chief executive of Birmingham Symphony Hall and Town Hall, which celebrated its 21st birthday this week, and Elaine Marguirite Padmore, former director of Opera at the Royal Opera House in London.
