A Star is Born and Mary Poppins Returns lead Golden Globe Nominations

Emily Blunt and Lady Gaga are both up for Golden Globes while composers Alexandre Desplat and Marco Beltrami are nominated for Best Original Score

The nominations for the Golden Globe Awards 2019 have been unveiled and the forthcoming Disney film Mary Poppins Returns dominates alongside A Star is Born.

Emily Blunt is up for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while her co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda receives a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film is also nominated in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category

Mark Shaiman, who composed the score for the blockbuster reboot, receives a nomination for Best Original Score, alongside Marco Beltrami (for A Quiet Place), Alexandre Desplat (Isle of Dogs), Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther) and Justin Hurwitz (First Man).

And not to be outdone, A Star is Born receives a clutch of nominations including: Best Director – Motion Picture and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Bradley Cooper, Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’, Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Lady Gaga, and Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddie Mercury biopic, is also up for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury in the film, is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

The 2019 Golden Globes will air on 6 January 2019 on NBC. Here is the full list of nominations:
