Alex James' A-Z takes Silver Sony Award

The A-Z of Classic FM Music has won a Sony Radio Academy Award. The radio industry's most prestigious awards were announced last night at London's Grosvenor House.

Alex James’ programme won Silver for Best Music Programme, fighting off competition including Radio 3’s In Tune. Judges called The A-Z ‘a rip roaring ride through classical music courtesy of a manically excitable and distinctive broadcaster who puts both wit and intelligence into a well produced show. Alex James delivers music and content to the audience in a manner which befits its show billing. He convincingly takes the audience on a rewarding, and at times, surprising voyage of musical discovery.’

Blur bassist of Popstar to Operastar fame Alex James has led listeners through the alphabet of Classic FM music for the last two years. The first series finished a few weeks ago and Alex has now returned to ‘A’ to journey once again through the alphabet of Classic FM works.

You can hear The A-Z of Classic FM Music every Sunday from 11am to 1pm.
