Classical triumphs over pop on big day

A national survey of women aged 18-44, conducted by Classic FM, has shown that 78% of people would still prefer to have traditional classical music at their wedding, with contemporary pop music scoring badly.

The survey also revealed that, of the common celebratory events, a wedding is by far the event most closely associated with classical music, particularly when compared to Christmas or Easter.

To celebrate wedding season, and especially with the onset of the Royal Wedding, Classic FM has released The Wedding Collection, featuring two hours of music to play at every stage of the big day. And as speculation continues around which pieces the Royal couple will use, Kate and William will be sent the first CD off the press to help them make up their minds.
