Perfect pitch is a blessing and a curse. But you can always use it for a pretty great session of ‘guess the key of this piece’.
As any musician with perfect pitch will tell you, it’s a mixed blessing. On the one hand, you can immediately feel when something is just a bit ‘off’, and potentially ruin any musical enjoyment for no reason.
But on the other hand, you can also do sweet party tricks like this:
As you can see, these two kids correctly identify the keys of several different pieces, from Whitacre to Elvis. And all they need is a few seconds.
