Pure joy: The Marriage of Figaro, but it’s arranged for a saxophone sextet

Arguably the greatest operatic overture of all time, arranged for six saxophones.

Mozart famously composed the glorious Overture to The Marriage of Figaro just a few hours before it premiered.

Despite his horrific sense of time management, the young composer managed to create what is often now hailed as one of the greatest operatic overtures in history.

And here’s something a bit different: from various places around the United States, saxophone sextet The Moanin’ Frogs recorded a multitrack version of the Overture, arranged by Jonathan Hostottle.

Each part was recorded separately, with the musicians using a metronome to keep in time.

It sounds utterly joyous. Find more from The Moanin’ Frogs on Facebook.
