A pianist plays a beautiful piano cover of ‘Numb’ by Linkin Park. And it's the perfect tribute to Chester Bennington, the band's lead singer, who died this week.
Linkin Park's 'Numb' has a beautiful, soaring melody. So it's no surprise that it works perfectly as a solo piano piece in Mark Fowler’s performance.
'Numb' boasts some of Linkin Park's deepest lyrics (Chester wrote many of the band's lyrics himself), but this piano cover really gives the tune a chance to shine, bringing out its beautiful phrasing.
The tentative verse, moving to the repeated ‘D’ in the bridge, and finally to the emotional burst of the chorus depicts feelings of melancholy and hope, all within the space of just over three minutes.
The pianist also plays a lovely version of Linkin Park’s 'In The End':
The original recording of ‘Numb’ was sung by the band's late singer, Chester. These are his beautiful isolated vocals on the track.
RIP, Chester.
