This Eagles fan was so hyped for the Super Bowl, he wrote a fugue

The 52nd Super Bowl is just a few days away. But this organist proves there’s still time to write some smashing counterpoint.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles will play the New England Patriots to decide the league champion for the 2017 season – and we’re pleased to report there's been a little supporting music geekery.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a theme song called Fly Eagles Fly. Here's a stadium full of Eagles fans singing it following what we understand to be a touchdown (yes, we're still learning about this sport here in the UK).

Composer, organist and Eagles fan Skyler Marzewski took the tune of that rousing anthem and used it as the subject for a four-part fugue in the style of J.S. Bach. Bravo.

To our knowledge, New England Patriots fans haven't yet written a fugue on their anthem. So although the game takes place on Sunday, at this stage the contrapuntal score is 1-0 to the Eagles.
