Haydn Piano Sonatas Vol. 7 – Jean-Efflam Bavouzet

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet releases the latest instalment of his Haydn Piano Sonatas collection. In Volume 7, he shines a light on those lesser-known sonatas, some of whose authenticity has been questioned, but are still widely regarded as Haydn's own works. These sonatas only exist in copy form so putting a date on them is difficult, but you can hear the particular youthful exuberance in some sonatas versus the more mature writing heard in others.

The playful Sonata No. 8, bright No. 13 and the more evocative No. 58 are among the sonatas picked and recorded for this album, all executed with the utmost precision and ever-reliable interpretation of Bavouzet.
