Pianist Lang Lang has covered Leonard Cohen’s elegiac classic ‘Hallelujah’, turning it into a mini piano rhapsody.
Cohen, who died last week at the age of 82, wrote the song over a number of years, gradually perfecting each verse as it winds over the same repeated chord pattern. Since then, it’s become truly iconic.
When the songwriter died last week, it prompted a flurry of cover versions of the classic song, but pianist Lang Lang’s version has turned it into a wonderfully rhapsodic and virtuosic piano miniature:
