The young Scottish virtuoso dazzles in her new album of film music classics.
Over the course of five albums, Nicola Benedetti has tackled repertoire from Romantic violin concertos to lush English music, and explored her Italian roots in a recording of Baroque violin classics. Now she’s taking a trip to the movies in her sixth album, with music written specifically for films.
Included on the album is the lyrical Violin Concerto by Austro-Hungarian composer Eric Korngold. It’s the centre of the film music-inspired programme, with the theme from Schindler’s List by John Williams, and Mahler’s Piano Quartet in A minor.
