Lang Lang on Beethoven, Birthdays and Buckingham Palace

Classic FM’s Anne-Marie Minhall caught up with the legendary pianist Lang Lang.

Lang Lang has just performed in three sell out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, in his first Beethoven cycle in London with the Philharmonia, under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen. He spoke about his love of London, which is lucky as it seems he will be spending a lot of time here this year.

He will be returning to London to perform by royal appointment, for the Queen’s upcoming Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace.  Lang Lang has also landed a gig at the outdoor summer festival Latitude. Lang Lang explains his excitement of this unique music performance experience and the chance to meet the other musicians.

Lang Lang is an accomplished pianist and one of the most exciting artists, having just performed five Beethoven piano Concertos in three sell out nights at the Royal Albert Hall.

Lang Lang spoke to Anne Anne-Marie Minhall at length about what is on the horizon including prospects of a new album and a tour of South America. Also Lang Lang told us about how he continues to inspire the younger generation and his unusual plans for celebrating his imminent thirtieth birthday.
