The King of the Waltz unveils his special piece for The Queen's 90th birthday.

To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, André Rieu has written a brand new piece of music titled The Windsor Waltz.  It appears on his new album Magic of the Waltz, released on 15 April.

The Windsor Waltz opens with a vibrant fanfare and pays homage to British favourites such as Rule Britannia and Pomp and Circumstance, before launching into a joyful waltz mood with beautiful melodies and a hint of God Save The Queen at the end

André got in touch with Classic FM’s John Suchet directly to give him the chance to preview his new piece.

“I composed a waltz for HM The Queen, to celebrate her 90th birthday… You hear heralds announce her, then you hear her entrance and then she waltzes, all night long, like Queen Victoria did in Strauss's time, when the waltz was still forbidden!"

Rieu's new album Magic of the Waltz presents the most beautiful and enchanting waltzes, selected, performed, and even composed, by André himself.  Among the musical highlights are the famous Blue Danube, Edelweiss, The Godfather as well as the incredible And The Waltz Goes On.
