A pianist has tried out two pianos – made 100 years apart. Can you hear the difference in sound?

The video above shows pianist and YouTuber Fabricio Vinheteiro trying out four different pieces on two upright pianos.

The first piano, made in 1915 – and decorated with two candle-holders, no less – produces a thin, metallic sound typical of a honky-tonk piano.

The second, made in 2018, produces a smoother sound, and has a more resonant bass.

Vinheteiro plays music by Grieg as well as some ragtime on the two instruments. See if you can tell the difference.
