After revitalising the orchestra for the past six years, the conductor says she's 'not finished!' and plans to work with them until August 2021.

Conductor Marin Alsop is set to perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra until August 2021. This latest signing marks the second time she's renewed her contract with the orchestra.

Alsop said she was deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead the orchestra: "This Orchestra’s artistic calibre coupled with their passion for music makes it my privilege to assume the podium each week," she said. "With the support of the BSO board and tireless staff, the Orchestra and I have many accomplishments of which I am quite proud. But I am certainly not finished! I have more ideas to benefit this Orchestra and community and the BSO is my perfect partner towards realizing these goals."

Since taking to the podium as music director with the BSO in 2007, the orchestra has gone from strength to strength, and ticket sales have increased dramatically. She's also set up a series of projects with the players, including programmes for young children and families.
