Anna Netrebko has had to cancel her performances over the next three weeks in order to undergo surgery to alleviate severe pain in her foot.
The Russian soprano cancelled her performance at Erwin Schrott in Baden-Baden on Tuesday and will also miss concerts in Hannover (January 6), and Mannheim (January 9) due to the surgery. All of her concerts are due to be rescheduled. Anna was also due to do two performances of La Traviata at the Royal Opera House in London this month (January 17 and 20).
A statement on Anna's official website said, "Ms. Netrebko is sorry to disappoint her fans and looks forward to returning to the stage later in January once she has fully recovered from the operation"
Anna Netrebko recently opened the new season at La Scala in Milan, playing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni.
