Bach Concertos - Julia Fischer

Julia Fischer is one of the fastest-rising stars in the classical music world today.

She came to widespread attention in 2007 as winner of the prestigious Artist of the Year prize at the Classic FM Gramophone Awards - and since then, she's been hard at work on her new album of Bach concertos.

This disc features some of the composer's most popular works for the instrument: the concertos in E major and A minor, the beautiful Double Violin Concerto, and the Concerto for Violin and Oboe.

At the age of eleven, Julia Fischer not only carried off the top prize at the 1995 International Yehudi Menuhin Competition (overseen by Lord Menuhin himself) but was also awarded a special prize for Best Bach Solo Work.

On this new CD, Fischer is joined by violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, oboist Andrey Rubtsov, and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
