Part of John Eliot Gardiner’s mammoth Bach Cantatas project with his English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir.
This set of cantatas, released this week, was recorded live at the church of St. Giles Cripplegate in London, in two concerts funded entirely by the generosity of hundreds of donors across the world following a heartfelt appeal from the British comedian Alexander Armstrong.
It’s part of John Eliot Gardiner’s mammoth Bach Cantatas project with his English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir – and this set features the so-called ‘Ascension Cantatas’.
The music is performed with clarity, beauty and precision – as you’d expect from a conductor who’s made a name with his recordings of the music of Bach.
John Suchet will be featuring something from the album from Tuesday to Friday this week, at 10.15.
