The Full Works Concert - Tuesday 28 January 2014: Classic FM on Tour

Tonight, Jane Jones showcases the newest member of the Classic FM family, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

Last night, Jane Jones celebrated the Royal Scottish National Orchestra – an orchestra that’s worked in partnership with Classic FM for more than a decade.

Tonight, as part of her tour of the UK, Jane features the newest member of the Classic FM orchestral family, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra – which, since the autumn of last year, has been known as Classic FM’s Orchestra in the South of England.

The orchestra was formed in 1893 and throughout its illustrious history it has worked with some of the finest composers, conductors and musicians in the world including Elgar, Bartók, Sibelius, Holst, Stravinsky, Vaughan Williams and Sir Thomas Beecham. The young Ukrainian Kirill Karabits has been Principal Conductor since the beginning of the 2009/10 season. Classic FM and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra work together to extend their shared passion for classical music in many of the towns and cities served by the Orchestra, from full symphonic concerts in Poole, Bournemouth, Exeter, Bristol, Portsmouth, Brighton and Cheltenham to a multitude of Education & Participation projects.
