Catherine Bott enters the world of Othello, Iago and Desdemona.
Catherine Bott continues her four-part exploration of the impact Shakespeare's plays have made on classical music, to mark the Bard's 450th birthday.
Tonight Catherine focuses on The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice and the many musical works that it has inspired.
There are operas from Rossini and Verdi, music of Purcell used in a ballet The Moor's Pavane, an Othello Overture by Dvorak, and even music from a Hindi film version, Omkara, set in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
