The second of two Mozart discs featuring Austrian violinist Alexander Janiczek at the head of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is a sleek, radiant account of Mozart’s Salzburg years. The Serenade ‘Andretter’, K185 is a vehicle for Janiczek the soloist. His tone bites with a brilliant, exciting edge, most noticably in the serene Andante, and he inspires the players who deliver a mighty ‘Mannheim crescendo’ in the Finale. Two rondos and an adagio are spare movements from the violin concertos and the Divertimento, K113 is Mozart’s first composition for clarinets. One can sense the almost naughty delight he takes in moulding new sound.
