Yo-Yo Ma talks Goat Rodeos

The American cellist and composer Yo-Yo Ma is about to release a brand new collaborative album called 'The Goat Rodeo Sessions', and he's been speaking to Anne-Marie Minhall all about it.

For the album Yo-Yo Ma is accompanied by double-bassist Edgar Meyer, mandolin player Chris Thile and violinist Stuart Duncan for an intriguing mix of classical and bluegrass music.

'The Goat Rodeo Sessions' is one of many collaborations Yo-Yo Ma has been involved in. Over the course of his career he has recorded with such diverse figures as established classical music pianist Emanuel Ax, jazz singer Diane Krall and musician Bobby McFerrin.

Classic FM's Anne-Marie Minhall talked to Yo-Yo about how this latest collaboration came together, the meaning behind the album's title and his continuing work with children.
