The Full Works Concert - Wednesday 19 March 2014
In an exclusive live concert, Sinfonia Viva play works by Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Weber.
In an exclusive broadcast, Jane Jones presents a concert by Sinfonia Viva, recorded especially by Classic FM in Derby late last year.
Founded in 1982, Sinfonia Viva has established a strong reputation as a leader in creative music activity, its goal to make music accessible to the widest audience. The ensemble has toured to Ireland and Berlin, and made its London debut as part of an Indian music festival at Kings Place, building on its partnership with top Indian classical violinist Kala Ramnath. One of the Orchestra’s tracks on the Gorillaz’ album Plastic Beach was nominated for a Grammy award. The Orchestra was also the Derby content producer for the Olympic Torch Evening Celebration event in June 2012.
Tonight they play Mendelssohn's ever-popular "Italian Symphony", Schubert's second symphony, and are joined by clarinettist Mark Simpson for Mozart's beautiful Clarinet Concerto and Weber's Clarinet Concertino in Eb.
