David Mellor marks the 40th birthday of one of the world's finest violinists, Maxim Vengerov. 

David has a superb selection of Vengerov's recordings – some of which he made while he was still a teenager. These include Beethoven's Violin Concerto, Elgar's Violin Sonata, the astonishingly difficult Czardas by Vittorio Monti and the beautiful 'Méditation' from Massenet's opera Thais.
