A tight squeeze for Rachmaninov

This double CD incorporates one of my pet hates, ‘extracts’ from movements. So the andante from Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 has been reduced to a mere four minutes, and Ravel’s Pavane has been cut in half. As for Dvorák’s largo from the Ninth Symphony, we only merit three minutes. I get the impression that Chandos has tried to squeeze in as many tracks as possible, so it sounds more like a sampler for the record company than a romantic listen.
