The Sixteen announce Choral Pilgrimage 2013

The Voices of Classic FM are bringing choral music back to sacred buildings around the UK and Ireland in a programme of 34 concerts.
The Sixteen are on a mission to take sacred music back to the kind of buildings for which it was written. They'll be touring the UK and Ireland with a selection of choral music spanning the ages, focusing on three composers whose music has impacted the church through the ages: Allegri, Palestrina, and MacMillan.
Harry Christophers described the tour as the highlight of the choir's season. “It is so very special to us to see glorious cathedrals and abbeys packed out, our audiences excited by the prospect of being transported into another world by this sublime music," he said. "It is a constant pleasure and a great privilege for us to have the opportunity to perform such exceptional works from our great cultural heritage.”
Those wanting to learn more about the concert repertoire will be able to attend a selection of choral workshops and pre-concert talks, and the choir continues to offer interactive schools' matinee concerts. The choir will be taking their sacred programme around the UK and Ireland, starting in Guilford on March 2 and finishing in Edinburgh on 26 October.
