Pavarotti was only human, like the rest of us – and he had his fair share of cringe-worthy moments on stage.
Although Pavarotti's voice was truly out of this world, he wasn't immune to a mishap or two in the theatre.
We particularly love the idea of Pavarotti panicking in his pants, but the wobbly chair disaster is the real pièce de résistance of this clip.
With a cheeky smile, he tells the story of what was once a ‘very fragile’ chair reinforced with iron bars, sabotaging his performance.
Things escalated when his co-star decided to sit on Pavarotti's lap, causing the chair to completely collapse.

But this didn't stop a number of women in the crowd from gushing over the tenor, as one audience member later complimented him on his ‘extra-huggable inches’.
He jokes that “They’re still looking for the chair” before adding “You can check if you don’t believe it”.
Alas, Pavarotti, we still think you’re one of the greats.
