Classic FM is celebrating the work of London’s Southbank Centre with superb recordings of the Centre’s resident orchestras and a look ahead to upcoming music featured in the new season.
In this dazzling concert from London's Royal Festival Hall, Jane Jones presents one of America's top orchestras, the Philadelphia under the baton of the acclaimed Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Recorded exclusively for Classic FM, the Philadelphia Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5. It's the epitome of the grand Romantic symphony, filled with sweeping melody, high emotion and moments of volcanic eruption.
Also on the programme tonight, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.3 played by the distinguished pianist Emanuel Ax, making a rare visit to London.
