The Full Works Concert – Thursday 9th May: Immortal Masters

Tonight’s concert features a couple of outstanding conductors, who can definitely be described as Immortal Masters.

Firstly, we’ll hear the Italian maestro Giuseppe Sinopoli conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 (‘Italian’) – and later, Charles Mackerras conducts the Prague Symphony Orchestra in a brilliant rendition of Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 (‘From the New World’).  Our Immortal Masters concert is completed with performances from the trumpeter Maurice Andre and the cellist Jacqueline du Pre.
