Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Classical Music - Sunday 14 December, 9pm

How have composers been inspired by the night-time?

Since we are spending more and more time in the dark these days, Catherine Bott poses the question, 'How have composers been inspired by the night-time?'

There's music from the inventor of the 'nocturne' - the Irish composer John Field - as well as nocturnes from Mendelssohn, Howard Blake, Anton Rubinstein, Humperdinck and the master of the genre, Chopin

There's also a spookily sinister night to contend with, courtesy of Mussorgsky, and a seasonally relevant Silent Night.
