David Mellor: Sunday 26 May 2013
This Bank Holiday weekend, David turns his attention to the Classic FM Hall of Fame - but with a twist.
In his show this Sunday, David takes a look at the most popular pieces of classical music that have made it into the top 20 of Classic FM's annual Hall of Fame chart and suggests similar but less well-known pieces to pair up with them.
Fans of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2 may be keen to hear Paderewski's version. While those who are found of the bucolic The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams - pictured above - might well enjoy the pastoral tones of Peter Warlock's music.
Other featured composers including Thomas Canning, Ernest Moeran and Respighi - and which of Beethoven's compositions do you think David will pair up with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture?
