Saturday Night at the Movies - 4 October 2014, 5pm

Howard Goodall looks at the most exciting new movies and film scores being released in the next few weeks.

The London Film Festival opens on Wednesday 8 October and Howard showcases some of the most hotly anticipated screenings - particularly Mike Leigh's Mr. Turner, which stars Timothy Spall as the great British painter, and The Imitation Game, in which Benedict Cumberbatch plays the World War II code breaking mathematician, Alan Turing. It has a score by Alexandre Desplat which we hear tonight.

There's also Howard Shore's latest score for David Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars, Postman Pat: The Movie and a new young adult science fiction hit, The Maze Runner.

Howard will also select music from films that have collected awards at past London Film Festivals, and individuals who have received a BFI Fellowship, including Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, David Cronenberg and Ralph Fiennes.

Listen out also for Dario Marianelli's new music for Boxtrolls - his first score for an animated feature.
