The Classic FM Chart - Sunday 9 August 2015, 5pm
This week's Classic FM Chart has a 16th century hit in it - twice.
Thomas Tallis wrote his 40-part motet Spem in alium four and a half centuries ago but today it's probably more popular than ever. It is this week’s highest new entry, as performed by the Tallis Scholars, and also features in another new entry at No.18 in a budget-priced recording by Oxford Camerata.
Elsewhere in the chart, there’s a fascinating look at music composed by Shostakovich under Stalin which enters the chart at 7, and a lost Romantic piano concerto by the 19th century Austrian composer Henri Herz at No.8.
And the soundtracks for two summer blockbusters - The Fantastic Four and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation are also big hits with album buyers. They enter the chart at Nos. 12 and 13, respectively.
