BYMT Big Phat Brass at the Schools Prom

It's the final day of the Music For Youth Schools Prom, and Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau has been backstage at the Royal Albert Hall chatting to the performers of tonight's concert. Here he meets the members of the BYMT Big Phat Brass Band.

The band was formed in 2010, the players being invited from the brass section of the Bromley Youth Concert Band. The group was inspired by the amazing Venezuelan Brass Ensemble to develop a different approach to performance.

Tonight they will be performing music from the show Chicago and from the Gershwin classic I got Rhythm, in an abridged version of an arrangement by Roger Harvey.

The band are part of the Bromley Youth Music Trus, which helps young people in the area to develop their musical abilities, More than 8,000 children are taught every year to sing or to play an instrument in BYMT's orchestras, bands and choirs.
