Only a few tickets remain on the brilliant violinist's tour of the UK. Don't miss out – catch her performances this month in Birmingham, London, Cambridge and Glasgow

Nicola Benedetti is one of today's greatest violinists, and she's currently touring the UK – with cellist Leonard Elschenbroich – performing Vivaldi's wonderful The Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky's beautiful Souvenir de Florence.

There are now only a few tickets left for the last dates of the tour:

26 September – Symphony Hall, Birmingham

27 September – Royal Albert Hall, London

28 September – Corn Exchange, Cambridge

29 September – Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

The programme, specially curated by Benedetti, is inspired by the spirit of Italy and Nicola’s own Italian heritage. Ahead of the tour, she said: "Italy's place in the cultural landscape of Europe is unparalleled. This is reason enough for it to be a central theme for this tour but my own personal heritage gives it extra poignancy for me."

Nicola and Leonard (who also happen to be a couple) will be performing a new set of duets for violin and cello written specially for them by Mark Anthony Turnage. The composer said: "I met Nicola and Leonard last summer. Although we didn't discuss a new piece I knew straight away that I wanted to write a new work for them. So when a few months later they asked me for a short work for violin and cello duet I jumped at it.

"Meantime, I did my research and read about their relationship. it was a very touching account of them meeting at music school and later falling in love. So I thought, why don't I write a piece that celebrates them as a couple."

Nicola is a household name, having won Classic BRIT Awards in 2012 and 2013. Her recent album Homecoming: A Scottish Fantasy became the first classical album since the 1990s to enter the top 20 of the Official UK Albums Chart. She was made an MBE in the 2013 New Years Honours List.
