An orchestra played a Mozart symphony in the tallest building in Europe and it was breathtaking

The London Mozart Players wanted to celebrate their 70th birthday with in style – with a special performance of one of Mozart's best-loved symphonies in London's Shard!

It's not often you can enjoy an entire Mozart symphony with a birds-eye view of London's Tower Bridge - but that's just what was on offer yesterday.

The London Mozart Players celebrated their 70th anniversary on Monday with Mozart's Symphony No. 41, 'Jupiter', streamed live around the world on Facebook. And just to add a extra bit of birthday pizazz, it's all taking place on the 34th floor of the UK's tallest building, at the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London.

The London Mozart Players was founded in 1949 by violinist and conductor Harry Blech. They specialise in music from the classical period, but over the past seven decades have branched out to everything from the Baroque to the contemporary. Julia Desbruslais, executive director of the ensemble said: "It will be a real thrill to feel on top of the world, performing in this amazing building as we celebrate our 70th birthday, playing one of the greatest symphonies by Mozart for our guests and for the Classic FM viewers on Facebook."

Last year, the London Mozart Players surprised travellers with a pop-up performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 at London's St Pancras Station.
