The Full Works Concert – Wednesday 31 October 2012: Delius Concert
Cellist Raphael Wallfisch joins the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra to perform the Delius Cello Concerto, and a selection of orchestral favourites by the composer.
Classic FM has recorded a very special Delius celebration concert in Manchester performed by the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra– and tonight, you can hear it exclusively on the Full Works Concert.
Cellist Raphael Wallfisch, a long-time friend of the school and Delius advocate, performs Delius’ Cello Concerto. The orchestra also performs Delius’ Florida Suite written during the time he lived in the US running his father’s plantation, alongside some of Grieg’s incidental music composed for Ibsen’s 1867 drama, Peer Gynt: At the Wedding, Abduction of the Bride, In the Hall of the Mountain Kin, Morning Mood, Anitra's Dance, Solveig's Song, The Shipwreck, Whitsun Hymn and Solveig's Cradle Song.
