The Full Works Concert - Wednesday 23 April 2014
Jane Jones hosts an English Celebration, marking both Shakespeare’s 450th birthday and St George’s Day.
Jane Jones marks a very special Shakespearean anniversary with music inspired by the great Bard's plays, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henry V and Much Ado About Nothing.
And as it’s also St George’s Day, Jane has picked some great English music including a sparkling guitar quartet arrangement of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, which was also coincidentally based on A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Listen out also for a modern take on The Tempest in the form of Michael Nyman’s soundtrack to the Peter Greenaway film Prospero’s Books.
