The Classic FM Chart - Sunday 10 May 2015, 5pm

The re-assembled Avengers smash their way to the top of this week's Chart.

The original soundtrack album of Avengers: Age of Ultron has unseated Einaudi's Islands after it spent 200 weeks in the Classic FM Chart and seven days in the top spot.

The stirring Avengers score, performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra, was written by Brian Tyler who replaced Alan Silvestri, who composed the music for Avengers: Assemble. In this episode, Tyler set out to pay homage to John Williams's classic scores for Star Wars, Superman, and Raiders of the Lost Ark while referencing the scores for the Iron Man, Thor and Captain America films in order to create a similar musical universe. Danny Elfman also contributed music to the score, using Silvestri's theme from the first film to create a new hybrid.

Craig Armstrong's beautiful score for Far from the Madding Crowd also enters the Chart this week at No. 13.
