Bryn Terfel on White Christmas duet

Classic FM caught up with Bryn Terfel on the evening of the announcement of his bid for the Christmas number one with his Bing Crosby duet, White Christmas.

Bryn Terfel's new album Carols and Christmas Songs was launched last night at a top secret location with all the glamour and glitz of a Hollywood Christmas. Bryn arrived at the Tre-Ysgawen Hall Country House Hotel in a vintage car, covered in snow, courtesy of the snow machines, amid the world’s cameras and news reporters.

Bryn told Classic FM's Bob Jones that he's especially proud of two aspects of his new CD - the White Christmas duet with Bing Crosby, and also the companion disc of Christmas songs in his native Welsh language. He says that having the opportunity to record these carols in Welsh was more important to him than the possibility of achieving the Christmas number one.

Was he happy with the White Christmas collaboration with Bing? "I'm no crooner, but I can give a melody, I can duet. I tried to catch Bing out on the recording, but he was flawless everytime."
