Tonight, Antonio Pappano is on the podium for an evening of music from his Orchestra of the Academy of St. Cecilia.
We’ll begin with their most recent recording: a critically-acclaimed performance of Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 (‘From the New World’), before going on to enjoy Respighi’s The Fountains of Rome and Tchaikovsky’s Francesca di Rimini. Plus – Han-Na Chang joins the orchestra for a beautiful cello piece by Glazunov, and there’s some moody Russian music in the form of Liadov’s orchestral piece The Enchanted Lake.
