David Mellor revisits a golden age of classical recordings.

This week, David Mellor turns the spotlight on the pioneering 1960s label 'Phase 4 Stereo'. 

Its unique recording technique revolutionised the way music was laid down - using a 4 track, 20 channel mixer built especially for the label. At the time this was game changing, but not without its critics. 

Tonight David shares his particular passion for a label and process that produced more than 200 classical releases.
