It's comedy night at the movies - and Howard Goodall has some musical laughs up his sleeve

On Saturday Night at the Movies this week, Howard Goodall turns his attention to the genre of comedy on the silver screen and explores how the music can enhance the hilarity of a film.

Starting with Charles Chaplin and music from the silent era, Howard examines how scores have been used across the decades for comedic effect and within different styles of comedy.

Moving closer to the present day, Howard will share his memories about composing for various television comedies including Mr Bean and Blackadder and explains why he used particular styles or motifs.
