Maria Callas shoots straight into the top spot of this week's Chart.

Thirty-seven years after her tragically early death, the legendary soprano Maria Callas is No. 1 in the Classic FM Chart. The anthology Pure features 18 tracks showcasing her most famous roles, including Carmen, Norma, Violetta in La Traviata, Tosca and Mimi in La boheme. It's a brilliant sampler, offering a taste of her particular musical genius.

There's also a new entry for Ludovico Einaudi at No.3 with Stanze, a cycle of 16 atmospheric pieces for harp composed between 1990 and 1992.
